Weekly Mantra: Lakshmi’s Gentle Abundance (One Mala, 5–10 Mins)
If your morning sometimes feels like a cold cuppa you forgot you made, this one’s for you. Today we call in Lakshmi—not just “money Lakshmi” (although we don’t mind that 😌), but Lakshmi as the feeling of being supported, nourished and safe to receive without having to over-prove or over-perform.
This week’s mantra:
Om Shreem Maha Lakshmiyei Swaha
Pronounced: om shreem mah-hah LUK-shmee-yay swah-hah
“Shreem” is Lakshmi’s seed sound. It’s soft and lilting, like the sound your shoulders make when they finally decide to drop an inch.

Why this one, and why now?
Recently we’ve danced with Ganesha (clearing obstacles), Saraswati (clarity and creativity), Mahashakti (power) and awakening sexual energy (life force). Beautiful. Now we soften the edges and practise receiving without guilt. Less push, more allowing. Less “I’ll relax when everything’s done,” more “I’m worthy of care as I am.”
How to practise (gentle and simple)
- Take your mala and a breath that’s just a smidge deeper than usual.
- Start at the bead next to the guru bead (we don’t count the guru).
- One bead, one repetition: Om Shreem Maha Lakshmiyei Swaha.
- Whisper if you like. Let your jaw unclench, your brow smooth, and your belly be a little soft.
- When you return to the bead before the guru, pause for 30–60 seconds. Notice what’s 2% softer.
One round is 108 repetitions, which for most people lands at about 6–8 minutes. (If you’ve only got three minutes, do half a mala. Consistency beats perfection every time.)
What it actually means
- Maha Lakshmiyei: calling to the great presence of Lakshmi—support, beauty, nourishment, enoughness.
- Shreem: her seed sound, a frequency many experience as sweet, heart-softening and quietly uplifting.
- Swaha: “I offer this,” or “I surrender into it.” Think of it as relaxing the white-knuckle grip.
In human terms:
💚 I allow myself to receive.
💚 I am worthy of care without having to earn it.
💚 I’m supported—in ways I can see and ways I can’t yet.
Little notes from the practice room
- If your mind sprints off to emails (how rude, but also, hello ADHD!), just guide it back to Shreem. Imagine the sound landing like rain on thirsty soil.
- Some people feel warmth in the chest, tingling in the hands, or a subtle lift in mood. Others simply feel more okay. All perfectly normal.
- If emotions bubble up, pause, breathe, and carry on when ready. You’re not doing it wrong; you’re doing it honestly.
A gentle cultural bow
Lakshmi comes to us through the Vedic tradition. We chant with respect and gratitude to the lineages and teachers who carried these sounds. If deity language isn’t your cup of tea, you can meet Lakshmi as a quality of consciousness—the felt sense of being lovingly provided for.
A tiny intention to tuck in your pocket
Before you start, try: “I allow support to meet me today.”
After you finish, try: “Thank you. I’m willing to receive.”
If you’d like to be held in practice, you’re welcome at Earthtones School of Sound in Mansfield for accredited trainings, gong baths and treatments. You can book online whenever you’re ready—we’ll keep a cushion warm for you.
One more time for the people in the back:
Om Shreem Maha Lakshmiyei Swaha — may it meet you exactly where you are. 🌸
